KING CITY, Calif. -- Sherlock Holmes could learn a few things from the Monterey County Sheriff's Department, after Deputies cracked a case in a clever way.

The ranch owner for Gil's Ranch in King City contacted Deputies, Wednesday morning, to report his property had been burglarized.

Deputies arrived to document what had been taken but no suspects were to be found.

Then, Deputies discovered shoeprints that trailed away from the ranch.

Deputies followed the footprints all the way to these two suspects, Samuel Ogden and Mark Bolerice.

Both were arrested for burglary among other misdemeanor charges for stealing several equipment batteries and tools.
