PACIFIC GROVE, Calif- An off-duty Seaside Police officer claims he was stabbed, but now investigators said his story isn't adding up.
On July 31, Officer Justin Gill told investigators two men banged on his door and when he opened it, he was stabbed.

But
an affidavit for a search warrant from the Monterey County District
Attorney's Office investigators said Officer Gill's story kept changing
when he told his story.
On Wednesday, Police Chief Vicki Myers
said Gill is on paid administrative leave from the Seaside Police
Department, but she has no say in the investigation until the D.A.'s
office decides if what happened that night was against the law.
"It
has not been completed, so let's not jump to a judgment or conclusion,"
she said. "Just like everyone else, officers have a right to be heard
in their day in court, as well."
Investigators said not only did
Gill give conflicting stories, there was also no blood on or near the
porch where he claimed he was stabbed.
They said they found most of it inside the house.
The D.A.'s office said Gill is not being considered a suspect at this time.
"We're
keeping it wide open," said Terry Spitz, chief assistant district
attorney. "We don't know where it will lead. There's a lot of work that
needs to be done."
When investigators asked Gill if he had any
enemies, they said Gill mentioned he didn't have a good reputation with
women, but he wouldn't go into detail.
"We're always concerned
because law enforcement personnel sometimes are the targets of people
they've arrested or been involved with in investigations, so we have to
keep an open mind that that could be something that's involved here,"
Spitz said.
Investigators said there are three possible scenarios:
1. Gill was stabbed, like he said.
2. Gill was stabbed by someone he knows and doesn't want to say what happened because it might damage his career.
3. Gill stabbed himself.
Without
telling Central Coast News specifically what it's planning to do, the
D.A.'s office said an update on the case could come in a least a couple
of weeks.
