Three Shootings Overnight in Salinas, Two People Injured

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif - Police had to respond to three shootings in a 20 minutes span Wednesday morning.

A shooting in East Salinas at 3:34 left a 44 year-old man with three gunshot wounds, one to the chest, neck and hand. It happened near South Hebbron and Alisal streets.

The victim was walking through an alley towards Hebbron when a silver vehicle pulled up along the victim, said police. The suspect demanded the man to give him his money, in Spanish, and moments later the suspect pulled the trigger shooting three times.

The victim walked to a near-by house where he collapsed in the driveway. He was transported to Natividad Medical Center in critical condition but upgraded to stable before being flown to a bay area hospital.

Minutes after the first reported shooting, a man was shot on Soledad Street. Witnesses said they heard a loud argument between several people, and then gun shots. The victim was hit five times in the upper body.

Several witnesses were interviewed, however none of them saw the actual shooting or the people involved, said police.

According to police, the victim was "less than cooperative" and told them that he was simply walking down the street when he heard shots being fired and realized that he had been struck.

A third shooting was reported near Larkin and Sherman around 3:54 a.m., a silver Honda was seen leaving the scene. Nobody was injured but police believe that this shooting may be related to the shooting on Hebbron.
