New Plans to Boost Voting Numbers for Republicans on Central Coast

Posted: Updated:

MONTEREY, Calif. -- Local Republicans are refreshed from their convention held last week in Tampa, now they're tackling new issues on the Central Coast.

Monterey County Mitt Romney Campaign Manager John Hanson said a new focus for local Republicans after the National Convention is reaching out to more women voters along the Central Coast. "I think we've got to do things like that. We got to get more women out talking to women and showing that the party has got a heart and it is concerned about women's issues and is concerned about family issues," said Hanson.

At the Republican National Convention about 35% of speakers were women, that's the most the party has ever had at their national meeting.

Now in order to boost numbers locally, Republicans plan on brining on bringing in more female speakers to help boost their voting numbers. Their next speaker will be former candidate Sharron Angle from nevada. She will be speaking at the Carmel Crossing on September 13th.

So far more than $150,000 has been raised to support Republican candidates in Monterey County. That money will be doled out starting this week between different candidates and groups.
