SALINAS, Calif. -- Several Central Coast viewers have been sending letters in support of 16 year old Damon Moelter. The teenager surfaced on YouTube a year after he ran away from home. In his online posts he claims his father sexually abused him for more than 10 year, that's why he's still in hiding.
Now several letters are being sent out to the Monterey County District Attorney's office from viewers who first saw the story on Central Coast News. They are letters in support of Damon. Some are also being sent to the judge in San Diego who refused to change his custody situation, citing that Damon's father was not a threat to him in a court case in September 2011. After that ruling Damon ran away.
We talked with Damon exclusively on Saturday who said he is going to remain in hiding until he gets a court order against his dad Eric Moelter. "For 10 years they have done nothing to protect me they've actually been quite counter productive in giving full custody to my father who I'm saying is abusing me," said Damon.
The district attorney's office says they cannot go off of a statement on YouTube to press charges or start an investigation. Investigators are still waiting for Damon to reach out to their office.
We tried to contact Damon's father Eric Moelter again for a comment but he did not return our calls.
