Posted: Updated:

Salinas, Calif.   Twenty-three year old Alfonso Reynoso is in custoday after a 7 hour standoff in North Salinas.

At about 1am on Saturday Salinas Police and the Monterey County Gang Task Force brought Reynoso  out of a house at the corner of Clinton and Manhattan Drive, just south of East Boronda.

Police told Central Coast News they saw Reynoso in a nearby park on Friday and tried to approach him.  They chased him into his neighborhood where he went inside the house.  Family members sat outside and waited for an end to the ordeal.

At one point tear gas was used to try to get Reynoso out of the house.  He apparently resisted that and any attempts to communicate until police finally went in and got him after midnight, Saturday.    Last check Reynoso was being taken to the hospital to be treated for inhaling tear gas before being taken to jail.

Police said Reynoso has multiple warrants and is a known gang member.
