Seaside Man Sentenced for Grandmother's Murder

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif.- On Thursday, a Monterey County judge sentenced Sunny Nguyen to 26 years to life for killing Alisal High School Special-Ed teacher, his mother-in-law, in Pacific Grove in November of 2010.

Family members asked the court Thursday for Nguyen to "never see freedom again."

In July, a jury found the Seaside man guilty of first degree murder for the death of his mother-in-law. In a surprising move, Nguyen even testified he killed Judith Salazar in a crime of passion and should only be convicted of voluntary manslaughter.
