SALINAS, Calif. -- A teen missing for over a year has surfaced on YouTube. The most recent was uploaded Wednesday called "Birthday Protective Order." The 16-year-old said he was sending the message to the Monterey County District Attorney, hoping charges would be filed against his dad. Damon Moelter started posting the videos last September and it's made it to several different sites in the social media world, but his father's site reads a whole different story.
In his videos Damon says "My father sexually abused me then just like he did hundreds of times after that," referring to the first time he said he was abused in Monterey County.
They're shocking allegations, but 16-year-old Damon Moelter is determined to get the word out about his situation. He's accusing his father Eric Moelter of sexually abusing him for more than 10 years. "My father told me not to tell anyone since it was supposed to be our secret," said Damon.
Online, Eric Moelter alleges Damon was taken by his mother and posts a decision in a San Diego court custody ruling claiming there was not enough evidence that Moelter presented a danger to Damon.
Damon's posts seem to be a reaction to that court ruling. On YouTube he talks about how he isn't pleased with those results and that's why he's still hiding.
Right now Monterey County Sheriff's Deputies say an investigation has not been launched even though several videos have been posted online by Damon. They say he actually has to contact the department before they can even start an investigation. "We have notified our sheriff's department to be ready in the event he calls in," Said D.A. Dean Flippo.
District Attorney Dean Flippo says his investigators tracked down Damon's attorney who told them she would contact Damon. Investigators said YouTube is not enough to go on. "Law enforcement hasn't met him. I am speaking for law enforcement, they're not going to file charges if he just says something. He's entitled to make a statement. That statement can be investigated and evidence will be sought and then a legal determination once the sheriff's department is through with the investigation.," said Flippo.
Central Coast News has reached out to Damon's father as well as the websites that could have any potential connection to Damon, but have yet to hear back.
