Salinas, Calif. -- Police are searching for two male suspects who robbed a 56-year old man at gunpoint and fired a single shot at his head.
It happened at Tyler Street and Iris Drive, just after midnight Tuesday.
Police say the victim was walking when a white, single cab, pickup truck stopped ahead of him. That's when, according to police, two male suspects got out and approached him.
One of the suspects took the victim's wallet, while the second suspect held him at gunpoint. Police say the victim's wallet was empty, so the suspects gave it back, and instead took his Oakland Raider's hat.
Investigators say as the suspects were leaving, one of them fired one round from a rifle, grazing the top of the victim's head. The suspects then drove off, northbound on Tyler.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment for a non-life threatening wound. Officers say they were able to locate the exact crime scene and contact residents in the area who heard the gunfire.
Salinas Police say the investigation is ongoing. They're urging anyone with information to contact them at (831) 758-7090, or to call the Anonymous Tip Line at 1-800-78-CRIME (1-800-782-7463).
