Multiple People Shot Near Empire State Building, Gunman Killed - Central Coast News KION/KCBA

NEW YORK, NY - Multiple people have been shot near the Empire State Building in Midtown Manhattan, said police.

The FBI said that there is "no initial connection to terrorism," reported the local CBS station, WCBS-TV. Several news agencies are also reporting that the shooter was a disgruntled employee at a downtown business.

A spokesman for the NYFD said the shooting happened in front of the landmark around 9 A.M. CBS News is reporting that at least 8 people were injured and two, including the gunman, were killed.  According to the Associated Press, the gunman was also shot and killed by the NYPD.

CBS News is reporting that some of the victims were found inside the lobby of the Empire State Building while some were outside on the street. At this time the conditions of the victims are unknown.
