Sand City West End Celebration Kicks Off

Sand City, Calif. -- Organizers are getting ready to transform the streets of Sand City into a unique three-day celebration of commerce, community, culture and diversity for the 11th Annual West End Celebration.

The City of Sand City, the Sand City Arts Committee and the West End Action Committee are hosting the event, which will start Friday, August 24 and run through Sunday, August 26.

Thousands of residents and visitors are expected to explore the West End of Sand City and experience cutting-edge art, hear local and touring musicians and buy works from local painters, sculptors and multimedia artists.

Organizers say visitors will also be able to sample a wide variety of foods and taste wine from eight local wineries.

The weekend's festivities kick off Friday, with a celebratory benefit concert for Sand City residents Susan Collins and Matthew Pierce, who are battling cancer.
