Congressman Denham Responds To Alleged Skinny Dipping

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS, Calif- A group of lawmakers took a late night swim in the Sea of Galilee and several reports are out claiming the FBI had to get involved because one of them apparently went skinny dipping.

Congressman Jeff Denham was on board for what was an educational trip in Israel last August. But according to the blog Politico, at least one of the 30 lawmakers, Rep. Kevin Yoder of Kansas, had a little too much fun and drink, and admitted to skinny dipping.

The Washington Post reported that the FBI investigated, but nothing ever came of it.

Yoder apologized.

Central Coast News reached out to Denham on Monday and he released this statement: "In August 2011, I had the privilege of visiting Israel with AIEF for an excellent educational trip. During some down time, my wife and I were lucky to have the chance to swim in the Sea of Galilee in a completely appropriate manner, something we had planned ahead of time. I am honored to have had the chance to participate in this trip and look forward to continuing to work with AIEF on their important issues."

According to his media rep, he and his wife had retired for the night before the alleged skinny dipping incident.
