Salinas, Calif. - A man was shot multiple times Sunday night, and now police are searching for the suspects.
This happened on Monterey Street, just after 8pm. Salinas Police closed one block of Monterey Street, between Alisal and Galiban during the investigation.
Police say the 21-year old victim was walking down the street near Gabilan and Pajaro when he was confronted by two suspects, challenging his gang affiliation.
When the victim said he had none, police say the suspects fired shots.
Police say the victim was taken to Natividad Medical Center for treatment, then flown to a Bay Area trauma center where he remains in serious condition.
Officers describe the suspects as two Hispanic males with a thin build. They were last seen wearing dark clothing.
The investigation is ongoing.
