SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - "I got a text saying that there was an African American person they were searching for," said David Scott, undergrad at UCSC.
David along with every student at UCSC got that text this morning notifying them about the assault at the college dinning hall. That's right next to David's apartment. David quickly made sure his family was okay.
"I had to go through my house and make sure no one came through my windows, said David.
David was not alone. Other families I spoke to said they were too afraid to go outside. They were scared they were going to be the next victim. And for David when it comes to his kids in danger its a whole different ball game.
"You're going to do what you're going to do, so nothing happens to your kids but that's not something you want to have to worry about," said David.
Police are continuing to search the area. But David is more concerned about the victim.
"I hope the victim is okay, that can be very traumatic. I'm more worried about that than them finding the guy, because they are going to find him eventually."
