MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif- The Monterey County Health Department is warning residents that it is going to be very hot for the next few days. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Advisory for Southern Monterey County.
Forecaster Briana Bermensolo says that the further inland you go the hotter it will get. In some areas of the lower part of southern Monterey County it is expected to get between 105 to 110 degrees. The heat advisory is expected to last till Saturday.
Health officials urge the public to act now to prevent heat-related illness. If you are in an area experiencing extreme heat you should:
- Get plenty to drink
- Stay cool indoors
- Wear light clothing and sunscreen
- Schedule outdoor activities carefully
- Pace yourself
- Use a buddy system
