SALINAS, Calif- After a long search, the Salinas Fire Department has a new chief. Friday morning Salinas City Manager Ray Corpuz told Central Coast News that Edmond Rodriguez, currently a Deputy Fire Chief of the Stockton Fire Department, will take over the department.
Pending the completion of final background review, Rodriguez is scheduled to take start his new job on September 24.
Rodriguez has over 26 years of municipal fire experience including top fire management positions held at the City of Stockton where he has worked his entire career, said Corpuz in a news release.
According to the City Managers Office, the starting salary for Rodriguez will be $189,972 less a 13% reduction as part of the City's concession program.
