SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- The former Santa Maria Police Explorer who allegedly was having an affair with Officer Covarrubias Jr. has filed a claim against the city of Santa Maria, claiming the police department did not protect her.
The claim was filed against the city on Tuesday.
The Santa Maria City Attorney's Office has released this statement in regards to the lawsuit,
"We have not completed our review of the complaint, and we have not been served. In any case, we are unlikely to have any significant comment to make concerning the allegations in the lawsuit until after substantial discovery has been completed in the case, which could take several months."
