Parachuter Hurt in Marina Crash Landing

MARINA, Calif - Officials are investigating how a parachuter crashed near the Marina Municipal Airport Wednesday afternoon.

At  approximately 1:15 PM the Marina Police and Fire Department along with AMR ambulance responded to a downed parachutist at the Marina Municipal Airport.  Upon arrival fire personnel found a 32-year-old man from Tracy semi conscious on the ground between the main runway and the parallel.  

The parachutist was one of several jumpers from the Monterey Bay Skydive plane which is based at the Marina Municipal Airport.

Witness on the ground said  the parachute opened early and descended rapidly and the victim impacted the ground hard upon landing.    

He was transported to Regional Medical Center in San Jose by CAL Star air ambulance for further treatment.
