MONTEREY - It truly does take a community to help keep a place like the Monterey Bay Aquarium running. And volunteers are so important.
Clinton Jones has been volunteering his time at the aquarium for ten years, interacting with visitors at different exhibits.
"What I get out of it is the opportunity to come in here to meet people from all over the country and all over the world and share information with them and try to inspire conservation of the oceans," he said.
Right now the aquarium has about a thousand volunteers, but it said for various reasons that number always fluctuates, so now the aquarium wants you to consider getting your hands wet.
Jones is a retired dermatologist, so he said people shouldn't be worried about learning the information, especially since there's a twelve-week course in marine biology before people start volunteering.
"You have to be energetic and enjoy meeting people," he said. "You have to love the animals and I think that shows in everybody we have here."
