SALINAS - One central coast man said his business is being forced out to make way for a new stadium.
"They didn't give me enough time to really understand what I was going to go through," said Juvenal Magana, business owner of Homer's Batting Cages.
Magana said the city wasn't clear on the expansion that's happening right on his door step.
He has a lease with the city to run the business until 2015.
At first, the new multi-use sports stadium looked like a good money maker for the batting cage.
But now, the California Rodeo Association that raised funds to build the stadium got more money than expected, so it's expanding construction covering the area where Magana has been doing business for almost six years.
"It really shocked me when it came this early," he said. "It's three years before my contract ends."
The city of Salinas said it has been talking to Magana since February and is still working to try and figure out a solution.
"It's upsetting, because Homer's Batting Cages is a huge part of the community in this area for a lot of us we grew up practicing here," said Joe Nieves of Central Coast Youth Baseball.
The city said Salinas council members could be taking up this issue as early as next month, but it's not on the agenda yet.
