SAN JOSE - The man charged with the murder and kidnapping of Sierra LaMar was expected back in a Santa Clara County courtroom on Tuesday, but he wasn't there.
Even though 21-year-old Antolin Garcia Torres waived his right to appear in court, Central Coast News learned a new twist in the case.
The judge briefly discussed the murder suspect's request for records from Verizon.
It was unclear what's on the conversations.
"There's a process," said Steven Clark, a crime analyst. "And you need to notify the other side that they're doing it. I think that's why they weren't released today to the defense."
While Garcia Torres wasn't at his court hearing, there was an outpour of community support for LaMar. Supporters said they're not going to stop until the missing teen comes home.
"It's not over until Sierra is found," said Tina Ingenthron.
"We will not stop," said Regina DiMaggio. "We are unstoppable. This is team Sierra."
And, like always, more than a dozen supporters of the 15-year-old's family, turned out to Tuesday's hearing.
They were hoping Garcia Torres would finally enter a plea, but again his hearing was postponed.
"We'd like to have closure to this. We want answers. It's just a step back for him. He just needs to step up to the plate and help out and give us answers. Be a man about it," DiMaggio said.
At this time, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office isn't commenting on the case.
Garcia Torres will be back in court on August 29.
