SALINAS, Calif- It has been said that a woman's whole life can be found in her purse, so it's a big deal when it gets stolen. One Salinas woman saw her stolen purse and tried to take it back Monday night, said police.
Police originally were called out to the 100 block of S. Sanborn Road because they got a report that two women were fighting in the street. When they questioned the women they found out the fight was over a purse.
The 22-year-old victim told police that her purse was stolen over the weekend at a check cashing place in the area. She also told police that the girl she was fighting, 38-year-old Claudia Arias, was the only other person in the store at the time of the theft.
Unable to confront Arias at the time, Police said the victim waited until she got word that Arias was back at the store. When the victim got to the store she told police that Arias was carrying the stolen purse over her shoulder.
The two woman got into an argument and Arias tried to leave but the victim would not let her go until the police got there. Arias was arrested and taken to jail.
