Salinas, Calif. - Police are investigating an attempted murder in Sailnas Sunday that left one victim critically injured from multiple gunshot wounds.
This happened on the 1800 block of Cherokee Drive at the Northgate Village Apartments, just past 7:30 Sunday night.
When police responded to the scene, they say they found the 20-year old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds in his upper torso. Police say it appears the victim was shot in the carport area of the residence. They say the suspect fled the area on foot aftet the shooting.
Salinas Police describe the suspect as an Hispanic male, between 18 and 19 years old. Investigators say the suspect is light-skinned, and has a light mustache. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
The victim was flown to a Bay Area hospital and is listed in critical condition. Detectives are also looking for information on a green Toyota Camry, which was seen driving in the area a few minutes before the shooting. They say it was occupied by three Hispanic males.
Police believe the shooting is gang-related.
