Posted: Updated:

NEAR SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. - San Jose Police and Gilroy Police arrested a man Tuesday night with a one million dollar felony warrant for firearms violations.

With the help of the San Jose Police Department, Gilroy Police say they located Solorzano after receiving a tip he might be in San Jose, and stopped him in his vehicle on northbound Highway 17, south of The Summit. Police then took Solorzano into custody.

According to San Jose Police, a Santa Clara County Adult Probation Officer who was present as part of the investigation, but not involved in the arrest of the suspect, had an accidental discharge of his firearm. Police say the probation officer suffered a non-life threatening injury to himself. The probation officer was treated at a local hospital for his injuries.

Highway 17 was shut down for several hours during the investigation while multiple agencies processed the scene. One lane currently under construction remained closed overnight.

San Jose Police say they turned over Solorzano to Gilroy Police Detectives as part of their investigation. Gilroy Police say Solorzano is a known gang member, who is connected to a 2008 murder in the city.
