Suspects On The Run After Stabbing In Watsonville

Watsonville, Calif. - Police are searching for the suspects involved in a stabbing Monday evening that left one person with life-threatening injuries.

This happened at the area of San Juan Road and Porter Drive, near the levee on the Watsonville side just south of River Park.

When Monterey County Sheriff's responded to the scene, they say they found the victim with multiple stab wounds to the upper torso.

Deputies say several suspects chased the victim, when was assaulted by one of the suspects with a knife.

The victim was able to flee from the suspect. Investigators say the suspects then fled westbound, past the Parajo Bridge where the victim lost sight of them. That's when, deputies say, the victim was able to run to the roadway and flag down a bystander who called police.

At this time, investigators do not know a motive for the attack. The victim was treated at the scene and later flown to a bay area trauma center for additional medical treatment with life threatening injuries. The victim is now in stable condition.
