Soledad, Calif. - Police are searching for two suspects they say shot and killed a man Sunday evening who had just returned home from a nearby grocery store.
This happened on the 1,000 block of Terraza Street in Soledad, at around 5:30pm.
Officers say they were dispatched to a report of a person who had been shot, and upon arrival, they say they found the victim lying deceased in the rear passenger side of his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of his home.
Police identified the victim as 34-year old George Anthony Campa, and they say a preliminary investigation revealed the Campa had just returned home from a nearby grocery store when the shooting occurred. Officers say it appears one of more suspects approached the victim while he was seated in his vehicle, and fired several rounds at him.
Witnesses say they observed two possible suspects fleeing on foot from the area wearing gray hooded sweatshirts and dark colored pants.
At this time, police don't know a motive. They say Campa was known to have associated with gangs, but it's unknown if he is an active member.
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Soledad Police Department at (831) 223-5521. Or to leave an anonymous tip, call the WeTIP hotline at 1-800-782-7463.
