SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-- Man Commits Suicide After Alleged Sexual Assault. The Situation began around 11:44 a.m. on the 100 block of Mountain View Avenue in Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz Police say a 32 year old woman from the Bay area was a victim of attempted sexual assault. She fought off her male attacker twice, made it to a neighbor's home and called police.

When officers arrived they were able to locate the suspect, 55 year old Richard Glandzman Sr. of Santa Cruz. The tried to go inside the home but saw several weapons and ammunition. They backed off and called in a SWAT team to negotiate with the Glandzman, fearing he was armed and dangerous.

After several hours of attempted negotiation, police re-entered the home and found Glandsman dead of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The female victim was taken to the hospital for her injuries. The case is still under investigation.
