Victim Stabbed in Watsonville Attempted Murder

Posted: Updated:

Watsonville, Calif. - Police are searching for the suspect involved in an attempted murder that left one victim suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.

This happened at the Mi Pueblo Food Center parking lot on Freedom Boulevard just before ten Tuesday night.

Watsonville Police say the victim was loading groceries into his car when the suspect walked by and gave the victim a "hard look."

The victim gave the same look back, and that's when, police say, the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the victim.

Investigators say the suspect then got into a nearby vehicle and fled the scene.

The victim, who is not being identified by officers, was initially treated at Watsonville Community Hospital, and then air lifted to a Bay Area hospital for further treatment. Police say the victim's injuries are life-threatening, but the victim was listed in stable condition.

Watsonville Police do not know at this time if the attack was gang motivated. They're asking anyone with further information regarding the case to contact the Watsonville Police Department Investigations Division at (831) 768-3544.
