SANTA CRUZ, Calif - The California Highway Patrol arrested a man for DUI Tuesday morning after officers say he was driving erratically with a child in the back seat
According to CHP, around 11:00 Tuesday morning, a concerned motorist called 911 to report a suspected DUI driver in a white Honda on Highway 17 southbound. An officer stopped the driver on southbound Highway 17, just before Laurel Curve.
The driver was highly intoxicated and failed to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily. A 9-year-old Stockton girl was a passenger in the vehicle. While the driver was under arrest, the girl was cared for by another CHP Officer until her grandmother could arrive from Stockton to take custody.
The driver was arrested on the following charges and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail:
Driving under influence of alcohol w/BAC over 0.08% - misdemeanor
Child endangerment - misdemeanor
DUI with BAC in excess of 0.15% - enhancement
DUI with minor child passenger - enhancement
