SALINAS, Calif. - Salinas Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire just after 6:00 Tuesday night near East Market and Main Street.
The blaze began in a garage in an apartment complex off Madeira. Other residents are not surprised by the fire.
"I can't believe it cause we expect that something is going to happen, like this is going to happen sooner or later," said one resident.
Firefighters had to work quickly once arriving on scene to keep the fire from spreading.
Salinas Fire Chief, Brett Loomis, told me a preliminary investigation points towards a man doing work on his car.
Residents say they are fed up with the men working in the garage.
"They always work on their car and this is just not the right thing to do here."
The owner did admit to working on this car before the fire broke out. Loomis says that the result today is why you should listen to the law.
"I could put a bunch of words to it but all I can tell you is look behind me. That's the reason why," said Loomis.
