Salinas, Calif. - Police are investigating a shooting Wednesday in Salinas that left two men injured and another man dead.
This happened at 75 North Hebbron Avenue at around 10:40 Wednesday night.
According to police, the three male victims were returning home from church when two to three hispanic males approached them. They say at least one of the suspects fired shots. Investigators say the victims still had their bibles in hand.
Police say a 25-year old man was shot in the upper torso, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. They say a 17-year old male was also shot in the torso. He was transported to a bay area hospital where he is undergoing surgery for life-threatening injuries. And the third victim, a 20-year old male, was shot in the leg. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.
Witnesses on scene tell Central Coast News they saw the suspects flee in a red pick-up truck. Police describe the suspects as Hispanic males, dressed in dark clothing.
At this time, investigators say there is no indication any of the victims were involved in gangs, and were not dressed in apparel commonly associated with gang membership.
