Robbery Suspect Attacks Woman in Car, Steals Purse

SANTA CRUZ, Calif - Santa Cruz Police are searching for a man who attacked woman in her car Thursday afternoon and stole her purse.

According to officers, just before 4:15 p.m the suspect reached through an open window of the 23-year-old victim's vehicle on the  700 block of Front Street and took a purse. The victim was in the vehicle and grabbed the purse to stop the suspect from stealing it, but a strap broke allowing thesuspect to take the purse.

 

 

Police searched the area for the suspect but could not find him. He is  is described as a white male adult, late 20's-early 30's years of age, approximately 5'11"-6'00", approximately 160 lbs, short dirty blonde hair, rotting/decaying teeth wearing a tan/grey t-shirt and blue jeans.

The suspect is believed to have stolen a hat from a business in the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue shortly after the robbery. Some of the robbery victim's belongings were recovered in the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue.

The suspect then stole a bicycle from the backyard of a residence in the 300 block of Lincoln Street. The bicycle was recovered near Washington Street and New Street.

The suspect then stole items from a residence in the 600 block of Washington Street including tools and another bicycle. The bicycle is described as a red Bridgestone hybrid with a white basket. More of the robbery victim's possessions were found in the 600 block of Washington Street.

The robbery victim did sustain moderate injuries. Citizens are urged to call 9-1-1 if they see anyone with similar descriptions.
