CAPITOLA, Calif.- Olive, the otter who was found covered in oil at the Sunset State Beach in Monterey County in 2009, is expecting her first otter pup.

Scientists from the Department of Fish and Game went to give Olive a checkup at her new home, in  the waters of Capitola, and discovered she is about 3 months pregnant. Olive is about halfway through her pregnancy.

Biologists from the Department and Fish and Game's Office of Spill Prevention and Response found Olive to be in great health, and they will continue to check on her while she is pregnant.

To follow Olive's pregnancy, the Department of Fish and Game has set up a Facebook page for her at FACEBOOK.com/OlivetheOiledOtter
