CHUALAR, Calif. -It ended up being only two acres, but two engines, two water tankers and a chopper showed up to the fire. A response Calfire investigator Rich Lopez said people should get used to with the dangerous fire season ahead.
"California its preparing for the worst as always.''
And as California and the Central Coast watches fires wipe out much of the west in the Colorado and Utah. Calfire firefighters know it's only a matter of time.
"We hear that every year this is going to be the worst season ever."
But the last big wildfires on the Central Coast happened four years ago and recent dry winters have allowed plenty of dry fuel for a fire to feast. Its part of the reason Calfire started fire season almost a month early this year.
Calfire said dispatchers are also trained to decide what resources should be sent to each call depending on the weather and time of day.
Lopez said the goal is to have too many resources to a fire, rather than not enough. And they're relying on you to prevent fires in the first place.
