Southbound 101 Open After Deadly Shooting

KING CITY, Calif - Southbound Highway 101 is back open after being shutdown for three hours as the Monterey County Sheriff's Department and King City Police investigated a deadly shooting near Canal Street Thursday night.

According to Sheriff's Deputies, the two victim's were driving southbound on Highway 101 when someone shot at them just past the First Street exit. They lost control, went off the roadway, across a frontage road, through a fence and into a cauliflower field.   

At least one person in the car died, the other victim was life-flighted to a Bay Area hospital.

All traffic was diverted to Mesa Verde.
