NEAR MT. MADONNA, Calif- One man turned himself in after an officer involved shooting during a marijuana operation near at the Mt. Madonna State Park, said the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department Thursday.
Santa Clara Deputies and the Department of Fish and Game began a Marijuana Enforcement Operation a few miles south of SR 152 and Whitehurst Road in unincorporated Santa Clara County around 6:00 a.m. At 11:45 a.m., after a hike, deputies found the unlawful Marijuana cultivation. While at the cultivation site, deputies ran into two suspects who tried to scare them away, causing two of the deputies to fire their weapons towards the suspects.
The two suspects were able to get away but within a couple of hours, one of the suspects was located just south of where the shooting occurred, by members of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital and is pending transportation to the Santa Clara County Main Jail after his release from the hospital.
The second suspect is still at large.
The size of the unlawful Marijuana cultivation site and approximate street value is unknown.
