SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-- Classic Cars Made of Wood on the Wharf. People from all over the country flocked to Santa Cruz to check out old wooden cars.
Thousands of people packed the boardwalk for the 18th annual Woodies on the Wharf event. The event is put on by the Santa Cruz Woodie Club.
People got to see all the old cars lined up along the pier. More than 160 cars were displayed. Some of the oldest cars were built in 1920.
People visited as far from the East Coast and other parts of the country bringing in a pleasant boost for businesses around Santa Cruz.
President Toni Wilkerson says this is a one of a kind event that always packs the boardwalk. She says this day is one of the busiest for the city. "People came from all over. We have people that fly here from Hawaii and this is just a special event for the club as well as the city of Santa Cruz," said Wilkerson.
It took about 6 months to plan the car show on the wharf. Next year's event is already in the works.
