Suspects Rob Pizza Delivery Guy, Get Stopped at Checkpoint, Caught Red-handed!

SALINAS, Calif.- Friday night a pizza delivery man made what he thought was a routine delivery to the Hampton Inn.  When he got to the hotel room, no one was there, but when he got in his car to leave two suspects with a gun were waiting.

The armed suspects stole all his pizzas. 

A few hours later, 18 year old Angel Perez and another 16 year old went through a DUI checkpoint in Salinas.  The BMW they were driving was towed because the driver was unlisenced.

At 1:30 Saturday morning a Salinas police officers arrested Perez and the 16 year-old for weapon charges and armed robbery of the pizza delivery guy.

Police investigators connected the dots after officers working the checkpoint remember a lot of pizzas in the back of the BMW they towed, driven by Perez.

Officers identified and arrested a 17 year-old male who drove the getaway vehicle during the robbery. 

Perez was booked into the county jail for robbery, conspiracy, weapon charges and gang crime.  The two juveniles were booked into juvenile hall for robbery, conspiracy, weapons charges and gang crimes.
