Deputies Chase Car Through Salinas, Crashes on North Main

SALINAS, Calif- A car that was being chased by Monterey County Sheriff's Deputies has crashed at North Main and Bernal.   The driver of the stolen car was airlifted to the hospital and the passenger was taken away in an ambulance.

CHP says that the suspect was driving a brown Honda Civic that was reported stolen.  The chase started in Prunedale at Meridian Street. They tried to pull the driver over but he would not stop.

Deputies followed them through the streets of Salinas until the driver of the stolen Honda ran a red light at North Main and Bernal hitting a Nissan.

The man and the woman in the Nissan were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. CHP says that there was a baby in the back seat of the Nissan but the baby was in a car seat and is expected to be ok.
