Vice President Joe Biden Visits the Central Coast

CARMEL, Calif.--Vice President Joe Biden Visits the Central Coast. The Sunset Center in Carmel was completely packed earlier Wednesday morning. More than 650 people paid $100 each just to hear Vice President Joe Biden speak. 
 
Hundreds of people leaving the event were excited the Vice President made a pit-stop in Carmel for a fundraiser. More than $65,000 was raised in just a few hours. "We all had a really great time it was an exciting event and the man is so down to earth he is a pleasure to listen to," said Edna Young. 

Even though it was costly to get in, visitors who came said it was worth it. "It was well worth it was a beautifully done lecture with all different kinds of absolutely wonderful golden things that came out of his mouth. I would love to hear him talk again, said Edna Young. 

Carmel Mayor Jason Burnett said this was a one of a kind visit for the small city. "Its been more than a decade since we've had a sitting president or vice president come to this whole part of the Central Coast let alone Carmel," said Burnett. 

Burnett introduced the vice president who covered a number of key issues to entice people to vote for Obama again. "Touching on tax policy, touching on the basic issue of fairness that we're all in this together and we need to all work out of this together," said Burnett. 

Biden also talked about the environment and education, Something some cities along the Central Coast are struggling to fix. Burnett thinks at least one of those national problems could resolved here locally. "He and President Obama are working on national healthcare issues that we think, I think Monterey County could be part of the solution through the incredible fresh produce we produce here," said Burnett.
