Vice President Joe Biden in Carmel for a Fundraiser - Central Coast News KION/KCBA

Monterey, Calif-- Vice President Joe Biden's plane touched down in Monterey just after 5:00 on Tuesday evening. He's is at the Sunset Center in Carmel. 

When Carmel announced the Vice President's visit Mayor Jason Burnett sent Central Coast News this statement, "I am pleased and honored that Vice President Biden has accepted our invitation to come to Carmel! This is the first time in over a decade that we've had a sitting Vice President or President visit the Monterey Peninsula, so this is certainly an honor to be hosting in our town and an exciting opportunity to discuss our community with the Vice President."

Biden's visit will create some traffic problems in Carmel.  The city is closing San Carlos between 8th & 10th, Mission Street between 8th & 10th and 9th Street between Dolores and San Carlos.  Parking will also be limited in parts of the city.
