SALINAS - Salinas Police are investigating a shooting at a complex at 749 E. Romie Lane where a woman said shots were fired into her apartment early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to a single report of shots fired around 5 a.m.
Around 8:30 a.m., the woman said shots fired into her home.
Police found several bullet strikes to her apartment and at an apartment above hers.
Around 3 a.m., police said the victim's adult male relative with documented gang ties went to the apartment around 3 a.m.
Then around 5 a.m., officers said that's when the victim woke up and walked into the living room and kitchen area.
Police said when she was speaking with the relative, shots were fired through the front window.
The rounds narrowly missed two teenagers sleeping in the living room, officers said.
Police said the relative fled the apartment after the shooting.
No word on his whereabouts.
