88-Year-Old Woman Knocked to the Ground, Robbed Outside Grocery Store

SALINAS, Calif -  An elderly woman is expected to be ok after a man knocked her to the ground and robbed her outside a grocery store Tuesday afternoon.

According to Salinas Police, the 88-year-old victim was walking toward the front of the Grocery Outlet on North Main Street to go shopping when the suspect, David Wolfe, 33, approached her as she was looking into her purse for her shopping list.

Wolfe grabbed the victim's purse still wrapped around her arm, knocking her to the ground and causing her to strike the back of her head on the concrete sidewalk.  She suffered a minor injury and refused medical treatment.

Wolfe ran from the parking lot of the Grocery Outlet to an awaiting vehicle parked in the area of North Main Street and Noice Drive. Wolfe got into the driver's seat with another man in the passenger seat. One witness followed the suspect vehicle to the a motel located in the 1100 block of North Main Street.   After a lengthy foot chase involving several officers, Wolfe was apprehended on West Laurel Drive at Baldwin Street.
