SALINAS, Calif - Salinas Police say a local business owner was shot outside the Bank of America on the Northridge Mall property.
According to Salinas Police, a man with red bandana over his face approached the victim at gun point shortly before 6:00 p.m. The victim, a man in his 50's, grabbed a hold of the gun, but the suspect managed to muscle it back and fire multiple shots, hitting the victim once in the leg. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe he was targeted because he was carrying a bank bag.
The suspect was last seen running across North Main Street to another parking lot and may have gotten into a 4-door silver compact Acura or Honda-type car.
Police have seen still shots of surveillance video that shows portions of the robbery happening.
The nearby Northridge Mall remained opened and did not go under any sort of lock down, Northridge Mall Security Officials said.
