SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The Public Defender appointed to represent Antolin Garcia-Torres, the man authorities say they believe is responsible for Sierra LaMar's disappearance, has removed himself from the case.

Ken Mandel filed for the removal off the case on Wednesday, with a Santa Clara County Judge approving the request on Thursday morning.

Mandel filed for removal, citing a 'conflict of interest' which has not been specified at this time.

The next court appearance for Antolin Garcia-Torres, which was originally scheduled for July 10th, hasbeen pushed back to July 31st.

Garcia-Torres has not entered a plea to the charges he faces, including murder with a special circumstance of kidnapping for the disappearance of the missing 15 year old Morgan Hill teenager.
