Neighbors Say Sierra LaMar Murder Suspect Kept to Himself

Posted: Updated:

MORGAN HILL, CALIF- Neighbors of the man accused of kidanpping and murdering Sierra LaMar said that he mostly kept to himself. Antolin Garica-Torres lived with his pregnant girlfriend and their child at the Maple Leaf RV Park in Morgan Hill, just down the road from Sierra's home.
"I don't know why but this guy gives me an eery feeling," said Galvan, the suspect's neighbor. Garica-Torres did not go out of his way to talk to people who lived close to him, said neighbors.

"He's always sitting out in the bench there smoking by himself. Sometimes he's there with a young girl," said Galvan.  Neighbors say the young girl wasn't Sierra but they knew something was wrong when search crews started scouring the area on foot, with dogs and a helicopter.

"It's kind of scary because we've got kids that live right here you know what I mean? She's been gone since March, so what if he would have done something else?" said Monica Stevens.

Even though deputies are not linking Garcia-Torres to any crimes at the trailer park, people who live there are worried about their safety. " It's scary, very scary, very scary. It gives you something to think about. You just never know again who your neighbors are," said Galvan.

While neighbors may not know much about Torres, Morgan Hill Police do. They arrested him in 2009 for resisting arrest and they think they can link him to three attacks that year.
