Sierra's Mother Requests Halt to Volunteer Searches on Holiday

Posted: Updated:

MORGAN HILL, Calif.- According to a news release from the Klaas Kids Foundation, Sierra LaMar's mother Marlene is asking the community to take time off from searching for her daughter over the Memorial Day weekend.

"We would like our searching family to spend time with their families this coming Memorial Day weekend," said Marlene LaMar. "Therefore a community search will not be scheduled for Saturday, May 26."

The KlaasKids Foundation is organizing search teams in the continuing hunt for Sierra LaMar, the 15-year-old missing teenager from Morgan Hill, California. Searches will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 and Wednesday May 30.  If Sierra has not yet been recovered, Weekend search efforts will commence on Saturday, June 2. Volunteers are welcome to check in between 8am-1pm.

Volunteers are being asked to report to the Find Sierra Search Center, located at Burnett Elementary School at 85 Tilton Road in Morgan Hill

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and bring photo identification.

Meanwhile, a concert in support of the "Find Sierra LaMar Fund" will be held at the Jason Stephens Winery, 11775 Watsonville Rd., Gilroy CA on Friday, May 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Donations of $20 are recommended.
