Posted: Updated:

CENTRAL COAST, Calif- Millions watched as a "ring of fire" eclipsed the skies.

The annular eclipse happens when the moon passes in front of the sun leaving only a golden ring around it's edges.

The eclipse was seen in wide areas across Asia early Monday and people in the western United States got to see the eclipse Sunday evening.

It's been 18 years since the last annular eclipse. The ring phenomenon can last as long as five minutes, depending on the location.
