Teen Dies After Greenfield Drive-By Shooting

GREENFIELD, Calif. -- Greenfield Police are now searching for a homicide suspect, after one of the teen shot at on Tuesday night has died from his injuries.

According to police, the victims, an 18-year-old 17-year-old, were shot in the lower body around 9:45 p.m. on Hutchinson Drive and Hicks Avenue.

The victims were flown to San Jose hospitals where at 3:40a.m. Wednesday, 18 year old Jose Barragan was pronounced dead.

At this time, the 17 year old who was injured is in critical but stable condition.

During the investigation, police learned the two victims were walking on the sidewalk when a dark colored car pulled alongside them. Police then say one of the passengers in the car lowered his window and shot several times at the teens.  

Officers from Greenfield and Soledad worked together to process the crime scene while Monterey County Sheriffs Deputies responded into the City of Greenfield to assist with other calls for service.

The investigation is on-going.
