Ice Cream Man Robbed By Kid on Bike

SALINAS, Calif - A 15-year-old Salinas boy is behind bars after Salinas Police said he robbed a ice cream vendor at gunpoint Thursday night.

According to Salinas Police, the victim, a 43-year-old ice cream vendor was pushing his cart  at Glee Street and Garner Avenue around 5:00 p.m.  when the suspect walked up and pointed a replica handgun at him.

Release Date/Time: 4/12/2012 8:55 PM Incident: Armed Robbery of Person Date: Thursday, 4/12/2012 Time: 5:00 PM Location: Gee St. at Garner Ave. The suspect robbed the victim of a small amount of cash and then rode away on his bicycle.

Officers located the suspect on the bike path behind the 1000 block of Alamo Way. The suspect was arrested after a chase. He was found in possession of the money and a bandana he used to cover his face. The weapon was not located.

The suspect was positively identified by the victim and witnesses and booked into juvenile hall.
